Goodbye BThrifty Family,

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to you today. Our hand has been forced by the corporate powers that be (in this case Comcast Spotlight) and we will no longer be able to bring you the savings and discounts you have come to love and expect from the local merchants in your area.

As you know, BThrifty had put together a one-of-a-kind multi-media advertising system for local businesses and franchises. At the very heart of this system was co-op cable television commercials for small businesses who otherwise couldn’t afford to brand their businesses on TV. Beyond this, these commercials served to spread awareness of exactly which businesses were currently in the BThrifty savings network and notify you of what discounts to expect at the www.bthrifty.com coupon mall.   They were a vital part of a synergistic program which also included the BGreen Savings Card, Savings Alert Email Blasts, RSS Coupon Feeds, Google® Adwords, & the BThrifty Smart Shopper Magazine.

Our mission was to brand BThrifty and our online discounts, offers, and coupons, thereby reconnecting the local consumer (you) to the local merchants, and enhancing the image of independent businesses in our local community. In an effort to be environmentally responsible many of you had signed up for our “BGreen Card” - a paperless coupon card that eliminated the waste associated with printed coupons. We encouraged environmental responsibility and chose to lead by example. Digital delivery of advertising (TV/Web) was at the core of our program. Our website was even hosted on solar powered servers.

What was present then and has remained to this day is a belief in this community and the people who make it what it has become and what it will be. We part in sorrow because we know so much lies ahead. We hope you will remember what we were building and continue to put your best foot forward to support your local community businesses and the environment.

Farewell – and thank YOU for making BThrifty what it was!

Re: What do you think about Comcast?

I was one of the first to sign up with the guys at B-Thrifty. I have never liked comcast, this just confirms my suspicion that they are without conscience.

Re: What do you think about Comcast?

Comcast Cable TV and internet STINKS!! They are money hungry!! You can get the local channels for $16/month, and then the NEXT "package" available is $64.80 -- For BASIC CABLE!! And the quality of the cable TV is poor, at best. Always static, interference, etc. How the heck can people AFFORD to watch TV and spend "quality family time"?

Re: What do you think about Comcast?

Comcast is a big ripoff and as you say, a monopoly! I loved the B-Thrifty card and am sorry to see you go. You should take action against Comcast and hopefully get resurrected.

Re: What do you think about Comcast?

I signed up with Bthrifty.. before you guys even started, I guess like a "Pre-registration". I liked the idea, so I signed up and waited and waited to get the card. I think it was an awesome idea.. To be a little "greener".. Unfortunately COMCAST sucks.. and is too money hungry to put some thought into our environment!!! With all the competition out therer.. Comcast needs a wake up call!!!!

Re: What do you think about Comcast?

They only care about their bottom line. I was a green card holder and I miss the discounts from the local merchants. They hurt everybody and they don't care.

Re: What do you think about Comcast?

I just learned about what happened to your company when I went to use my Bgreen card at a local merchants. I read your story and did not think highly about Comcast before this but now they should be put out of business.

Re: What do you think about Comcast?

I had the same experience as Harold a week ago and then found out from the owner what happened. I was wondering why I no longer receive discount offers in my email. They are a terrible company and thier TV service is not to good either.

I had a friend that lost his job because they forced BThrifty to close. I am glad that I have ATT for all my needs.

Re: What do you think about Comcast?

Being in the entertainment industry, I try not to speak my mind when it comes to corporate giants, because bridges whold never be burned, but when it comes to this I'm apalled. My good friend and fellow celebrity, Michael J. Citak was an employee of BThrifty from the start. Working his way up from the Mascot to the premiere graphic designer of the company as BThrifty was in its final days. Michael is fine, as he's a resourseful and talented individual, but the sting of Comcast to the heart of BThrifty really hurt. BThrifty was making a difference in the lives of our merchants and the customers who embraced the BThrifty BGreen Card. Bottom line, what Comcast did to local businesses was wrong. I hope BThrifty sues the pants off of Comcast for their wasp like conduct, and soaks them with qa can of raid!
